Be Like Bruce Pancreatic Cancer Research

The Bike Doctor, BeLikeBruce Triathlon along with the CrossFit 306 BeLikeBruce Fitness festival is a major fundraising weekend that has taken place since 2018. We have raised approximately $50,000 with this community event. Not only are we raising money for research but, we are promoting health and fitness and having fun doing it. It is a weekend of two events. One being the BLB Triathlon which is considered a beginner level to encourage anyone who wants to try it to sign up. This is where Bruce started his love for triathlon. He had no swimming ability but took lessons, practised and just kept swimming! He volunteered for many years as the race director and constantly encouraged others to take up this sport. This lead him to finish nine Ironman Canada Triathlons.

The second part of the weekend is the BLB CrossFit Festival which is the other sport he grew to love. CrossFit 306 hosts the three day event and those who register as a team or as an individual , not only compete in CrossFit but must also do the triathlon. Bruce knew that these two sports complimented each other helped to make him into an exceptional athlete.

The funds we have raised along with other generous donations, stay right here in our community at the U o S College of Medicine Cancer Research Center We have been able to help facilitate a small pancreatic cancer research project which has lead to other other research projects. We have help buy much needed equipment and help repair other equipment so these projects can continue. We have also helped to publish the research so that other researchers can have access to this knowledge. This is something that has not been done for pancreatic cancer for many years.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most challenging cancers with one of the most devastating outcomes. With on going research, we will make a difference for the patients, to give them a better outcome, for their doctors, so have treatments and not just the devastating news and for our community, knowing that we are the ones helping to make this difference. I encourage you to join in on this fun by participating, volunteering or donating.(links below)

Hope to see you,
