Route / Navigation

Riders are expected to be able to self navigate for the event. That can mean a GPS Bike computer, a mobile phone or paper maps / cue sheets. Please ensure you have sufficient battery capacity to complete ~6 hours of riding. That may require a separate external battery pack.

Navigation files and instructions for their use are available through our RideWithGPS event site at:

You will require a RideWithGPS account and have accepted the emailed invitation to the files if you are not a member of the Bike Doctor Detours RWGPS club.

Water Food

Water resupply during the event will be done along the route at intervals of approx. 2 hours between resupply. Please be prepared to carry enough water for 2 to 3 hours of riding on the day of the event. If temperatures are high, this could mean carrying extra bottles in a pocket or a hydration system.

Food for the duration of the event WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. Please be prepared for a ride that could exceed 6 hours. There will be an opportunity to have a resupply at about the halfway point of the 100km rides. A bag will be provided for you to store any food or clothing that fits in the bag.

Safety - Emergency Contact

In the event of a life or death emergency, please dial 911. If Cell coverage is inadequate at that location, most likely you can head to higher ground to get a better signal. The majority of the track has good coverage with only some low lying areas not able to receive a good signal.

For non-life threatening injuries, or non-repairable mechanical breakdowns. Please proceed to the nearest road portion of the track, and call our volunteer staff in this order:

Lead Vehicle Day 1 - Greg Mckee - 306.280.7210

Lead Vehicle Day 2 - Iain Wilson - 306.222.9021

Campsite Coordinator - Brock Campbell - 306.222.2259

Required Equipment

BIKE

Bike appropriate for 100km+ / day on mixed trail and variable gravel road conditions.  Gravel Bike, Cyclocross bike or Mountain bike recommended (In order). Trails are non-technical, but some parts have rough surfaces.

Road or Touring tires WILL BE A DISASTER and strongly not recommended!! There are significant off road portions of this event that would favor a file tread gravel tire as a minimum.

WATER BOTTLES

We will have water available during the event, but you should be prepared for 2 to 3 hours of riding between water stops. 2 large bottles should be considered a bare minimum, with 3-4 bottles or combination of bottles and hydration systems.

GPS CAPABILITY OR PAPER NAVIGATION SKILLS

It will be necessary for all participants to be capable of navigating the course without external assistance, and more importantly, to be able to return to the course if one gets off track.

MOBILE PHONE

Mobile Phone for emergency and non-emergency event assistance. Riders may have long waits for the sweep vehicle, so should be prepared to communicate with emergency services independently if needed. A list of emergency numbers will be provided at the event sign on.

Our initial checks for Cell coverage have indicated that coverage is good for most of the course with a few small coverage shadows in low lying regions. In the event you require cell service in one of those zones. Please proceed to higher ground and re-attempt. We will be providing extra attention inside those zones for safety reasons.

 CLOTHING

Appropriate clothing for Saskatchewan summer conditions including wet weather gear.

CAMPING GEAR

Camping gear including Tent/Bivy and sleeping bag if using event arranged group camping

BIKE REPAIR KIT

You will be more than 100km from any bike shop, so you should be capable of repairing your bike en-route sufficiently to allow you to finish the event. In the event of a major equipment failure, we will transport you and your bike to the start/finish line
