FAQ
The #BeLikeBruce Triathlon is raising awareness and funding for research for pancreatic cancer starting here at home in Saskatoon.
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE EVENT?
WHY ARE WE HOSTING A TRIATHLON?
- Bruce was involved in the sport of triathlon as a competitor and volunteer for decades, making many friends along the way.
- Given that many of the people closest to Bruce were involved in athletics, we know that by being together in a physical activity has helped us to honour the life of our friend and support one another in our grieving process.
- Bruce believed in the power of sport - he loved to compete and challenge himself to improve and try new things. He lived an active and healthy lifestyle and that allowed him to make the most out of every day.
- A triathlon is an event that starts with a swim, then a bike ride, followed by a run. It's a great physical and mental test. This race has moderate distances so it's a great opportunity for people wanting a challenge to participate, even if they've never done a triathlon before.
WHAT DOES BE LIKE BRUCE MEAN?
The meaning will be unique to each person, but there are some common themes - family first, hard work & dedication, inclusive and encouraging, investing and giving back to the community. These are some of the most common attributes that come to mind.
WHY SHOULD I GET INVOLVED?
The energy and experience of the BeLikeBruce community is unparalleled. The group is supportive, enthusiastic and inclusive. It's a great opportunity to try triathlon for the first time or to challenge your previous time on the new course.
